Jump Schooling with Charming!

Anybody that knows Charming knows that he's one of the quietest 4 year olds around! He's come quite a long ways since I first started him under saddle as a two year old. These days he mostly just packs around several of my beginner lesson students from time to time during lessons. He knows the basics such as walk, trot, canter, whoa, back up, and he can even trot/canter some low cross rails and verticals. He does enough for the students, however I think it's time he gets more training attention and some more miles put under his belt. He doesn't usually carry himself in a working frame and he can be very inconsistent in his trot and canter. He's on the lazier side so trying to get him to move forward with energy is like trying to get a tortoise to run and jump lol I try to squeeze him into my training schedule here and there to help him along, but more often than not he gets left on the back burner. Thankfully one of my students is going to start helping me school him more during the week so he can go even farther in his training. I got him out over the weekend and did a short jump school with him, as well as re-tuning him up on the flat. We reviewed many things such as keeping a consistent rhythm at all gaits, engaging his booty, and bending and softening through his jaw, neck, ribs, and back. It was very hot out so I tried to keep it short and sweet for him! He was one tired cookie though after our ride!
