Taking Conditioning Work Outside the Lines

Took Zorro’s conditioning work outside of the ring today for the first time ever! We worked in the field behind the riding ring and even did some gallop sets in the bigger field up the hill from the ring. He really pleasantly surprised me! He can be a rather playful and mischievous boy more often than not, however today he was the quietest and most dependable gentleman I’ve ever seen him be. He’s usually always very tense, forward, and a freight train of a ride, however here lately he’s seemed to mellow out quite a bit. He’s been unusually “lesson horse quiet” so it may be his time to join the lesson horse fleet. I think all the chiropractic/massage specialist visits, good diet/supplements, consistent exercise, and muscle building has him really feeling his best these days and I couldn’t be happier for him!
